Squirrel cage motors are a subclass of induction motors, which harness electromagnetism to generate motion.
Its principle of working is described here. This work uses the motor current signature analysis (mcsa) method to acquire the current signal of the induction motor. A squirrel cage induction motor therefore draws a very high starting current, as noted in section 1.2.1. It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy and it is used to provide motion.
